Terms of Use

The service

CaseWalk lets you explore documented true-crime cases by walking the real, public locations where they took place, with narration that plays hands-free as you reach each stop. Cases are produced from publicly available sources and are provided for informational and entertainment purposes — see “Accuracy and safety” below.

Your account

CaseWalk automatically creates an account for you when you first open the app, so your library and progress can be saved without a sign-up. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and, where a sign-in method is offered, for keeping it secure. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use CaseWalk.

Credits, memberships, and purchases

Your first walk is free. After that, there are two ways to unlock more cases:

• Credits — a one-time purchase of credits you can spend to unlock individual cases. Credits do not expire and do not renew.
• All-Access — an auto-renewing membership, available monthly or yearly, that unlocks the full CaseWalk catalogue while it is active.

A case you unlock with credits, and any case you unlocked with a promotional free walk, stays playable in your library. With an active All-Access membership you can listen to any case in the catalogue in full; when a membership ends, cases you have not otherwise unlocked return to preview until you hold an active membership again.

Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. An All-Access membership renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends; you can manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple account settings. The exact price is shown in the app at the point of purchase and may vary by region. Credits and memberships are tied to your CaseWalk account, follow you across reinstalls and devices, and are for your personal use — they may not be shared or resold.

Refunds for purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple in accordance with its policies. Because unlocking a case gives you immediate access to digital content, you consent to that immediate performance when you buy; this does not affect your statutory rights under mandatory Dutch or EU consumer law.

Free and promotional walks

We may offer promotions from time to time, such as a first walk free of charge. Promotions are limited to one per person and account unless stated otherwise, may be changed or withdrawn at any time, and have no cash value. A case you have already unlocked through a promotion stays yours even if the promotion ends.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use CaseWalk for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• copy, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit case content except as permitted for your own personal use;
• circumvent or attempt to circumvent purchase requirements, unlock entitlements, or other technical limits;
• attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, or place unreasonable load on the app, the website, or our infrastructure; or
• use CaseWalk in a way that infringes the rights of others.

Content and intellectual property

The app, the website, our branding, the case content, and the software behind them are owned by us and our licensors. Map and points-of-interest data are provided by third parties, including OpenStreetMap contributors and Mapbox, under their respective licences. Cases are provided for your personal, non-commercial use.

Accuracy and safety

CaseWalk covers real events and real locations, but our routes and narration may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect, and historical accounts can be contested. Use your own judgement while walking: obey traffic and local laws, respect private property and the people who live and work at these locations, stay aware of your surroundings, and do not rely on the app for navigation in hazardous conditions. CaseWalk is provided for informational and entertainment purposes and is not a substitute for official maps, signage, or local guidance.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

CaseWalk is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss arising from your reliance on case content or from your conduct while walking. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Dutch or EU law.

Termination

You may stop using CaseWalk and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use CaseWalk in a way that harms the service or other users.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
